Obviously we aren’t very good at keeping up with this blog! For the latest news on Mermaid by Hand, make sure you are following us on Instagram @mermaidbyhandjewelry 😉
We are about to release a new ring design as well as a lookbook collab so stayed tuned! We WILL be posting the entire photoshoot on here. And you won’t want to miss it as we have paired up with one of our favorite brands.
this creative duo blows my mind every day and I am so very fortunate to call both of them friends.
the ring shown in the middle, the Southwestern Night Sky Ring may just be the first ring of a well overdue road trip collection! Inspired by New Mexico and the Zia Tribe. Also-hoping to have more teardrop opal rings available for purchase soon!
I’m not sure if I am feeling more inspired lately or if the new year is just bringing some wildly awesome editorials…I just had to share these photos I stumbled upon via Pinterest. Gotta love late night pinning and studio time! The styling is so on point it hurts!

It has been quite a while since I have posted a lookbook on here, and to be quite honest I haven’t done so as I haven’t been that impressed with any lately…until now. Here’s my favorite picks from the latest for Love & Lemons Lookbook. Do they ever do it wrong? Feeling so inspired by the mix of soft lace and sheer fabrics with the grittiness of the sand, rocks and surfboards. The perfect contrasts. After seeing this lookbook I’ll be jetting off to somewhere tropical…
I know this is very late but here’s a little photo diary from my trip to Costa Rica in September
No this was not a surf trip. I can do that any day I want in San Diego. There is so much more to life and so much more to see when traveling. As much as I love the ocean, and although we did spend a great amount of time on the beaches and in the sea, there is also so much land and wildlife waiting to be seen. This trip was about exploring, learning, growing…and finally, going home and appreciating where I live more than ever.
This last photo was taken by my friend Tobi is one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to meet this beautiful soul in Puerto Rico some years back and stay in touch. She appreciates nature more than most people I know and is a true joy breath of fresh air to be around. We awoke to these beautiful Macaws playing around in our back yard each morning in Bahia Drake.
We camped in open Tipis on a mountainside near Dominical, hiked for miles in the jungle of La Sirena in Corcovado, slept on buses, trusted the locals with our lives on some very questionable boat rides (where we stayed in Bahia Drake is only accessible by an hour and a half boat ride), walked across a jenky suspension bridge (and decided it was a good idea to shoot some photos for Tobi’s shop, Fox House on it), got way too close for comfort to some crocodiles, watched in awe as whales breached only a few feet from our small boat, and met some truly amazing people. PURA VIDA.
More travel photo diaries from Sequoia, San Onofre, Big Sur, and San Francisco coming soon.
A few new designs are hitting the shop tomorrow! A new spin on an original Mermaid by Hand design and a lapis statement ring. Both designs are inspired by the depths of the sea and the vastness of the sky. These will be available as made to order items!
Also soon on the blog, travels photos from Costa Rica and Sequoia. Feeling so inspired and refreshed. I truly believe there is a direct correlation between traveling and inspiration.
I also just wanted to say I am so very grateful for each and every one of my customers and followers. A new instagram giveaway is in the works to celebrate our new milestone of hitting almost 15,000 followers on instagram! Without you, this business would be just a hobby. I feel so blessed to share my passion and creativity with you and hope that it inspires you to follow your own dream.
and why yes, I did paint my nails just to showcase these jewels 😛 even though they will be chipped by tomorrow am
